Tribal Development Programme

Idukki is one of the highest tribal populated district in Kerala, where KSSS is operating from the very beginning. KSSS has been giving due importance to the integral growth of the tribal communities.For this purpose KSSS opened High range Development Center ( HDC) at Adimaly. HDC at Adimaly Co-ordinated the various developemental programmes launched at the tribal colinies, Churakettan , Thattekanam, Machiplavu,Chattupara, Koragatty, Kudakattukudy, Nellipetty, Periyakudy, Kuthukallukudy, Kottamudi, Marayoor.At present KSSS is conducting various tribal developement programmes in Mamalakandam, Pooyamkuttty and Pazhampillichal. KSSS takes up activities to improve social, economic, cultural and health standards of the tribals through different development programmes.

Though at first KSSS concentrated on seminars, awareness programmes, medical camps, health and sanitation projects, housing development programmes, and promotion of educational facilities in the initial stages, later the concentration was shifted to the devolopement of the infrastructure of the tribal people in this area. Also KSSS provides income generation programmes, and Home science classes to tribal women. KSSS started two tribal schools at Marayoor and Kattamudy respectively. Now Kattamudy tribal school is handed over to the state government while Marayoor tribal school is run by KSSS.

Besides, KSSS promotes SHGs for tribal communities and supports them to take up income generation activities using local resources.
