JEEVODAYA MILK PROJECT (JEEVA MILK),

JEEVODAYA MILK PROJECT (JEEVA MILK), is a unit of High Range Development Centre ( HDC ), which is registered as a Charitable Society, under Twelfth Travancore -Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Society Registration Act(1955). It functions under the Social Service Department of the Kothamangalam Diocese, with the Bishop of Kothamangalam, Mar George Punnakottil, as Patron.

The Central Society started functioning in 1996 and the pasteurization unit was set up by 2001.The aim of the organization is to assist rural poor farmers in welfare activities, thereby promoting socio-economic developments. The project gives importance for the formation of farmer's Societies for milk production, collection and marketing of good quality milk. Training is also imparted to the farmers regarding scientific cattle rearing, hygienic collection of milk and leadership development.

Jeevodaya Milk Project , is spread over the regions of Idukki and Ernakulam Districts, particularly in the hilly regions. Presently, there are around 72 farmer's dairy societies, out of which 38 are affiliated ones and the rest being independent units. The affiliated units function according to the rules and regulations stipulated by the Central Society, whereas individuals administer the independent ones. About 10000 liters of cow milk is being collected daily from the farmers through these societies. The Central Society extends assistance in the formation, management and administration of Societies, for the collection and marketing of milk.

At present, there are about 750 sales agencies, covering five districts of Kerala which are directly engaged in the sales of milk and milk products under the brand name "JEEVA MILK".

QUALITY POLICY

We are committed to the empowerment of milk-producing farmers, their socio economic development, and providing them the right price for the milk and creating awareness for scientific cattle rearing. We ensure customer's satisfaction by providing them nutritious dairy products of assured superior quality, as per their requirements and thereby participating in the creation of a healthy nation. We also strive for continued improvements in quality parameters by adopting technological advancements, which would lead us to be the pioneers in dairy sector.

FACTORY:

Milk pasteurisation unit erected and commissioned in 2001 with modern technology and having an operational capacity of 15000 litres per day has partially been financed by MANO UNIDAS, Compania Central el, Hambre C/ Barquillo38, 28004 Madrid . The unit provides employment opportunities for nearly 50 persons daily. The organisation is also geared to promote the production of various milk products by imparting training, especially to umemployed women groups. The acute scarcity in the availability of fresh milk being faced by the unit, which has also generally affected all the dairies in Kerala, prompted JEEVA to erect a milk chilling plant in Surandai, Tamil Nadu. The organisation's philosophy of working for farmers welfare activities shall also apply in the proposed collection areas of the new venture.
